NEW PLAYERS

The Hayes Symphony Orchestra is a friendly amateur orchestra based in South East London. The orchestra always welcomes new players.  There is no formal audition however, you really should have huge amounts of enthusiasm, be keen to have fun and try new/challenging repertoire and some sight reading skills are a bonus!

We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at West Wickham and Shirley Baptist Church, CR0 8EH from 7.45pm to 10.00pm.

We play orchestral music mostly from the classical and romantic periods, as well as some baroque and modern pieces, and regularly welcome soloists for concerti.

HSO gives three concerts a year, each preceded by nine weekly rehearsals.

We are a very welcoming and inclusive orchestra, made up of players of all ages from students to senior citizens. Some of our members, including our leader Amanda Clare, are professional musicians, while most are keen amateur instrumentalists with some experience of orchestral playing.

We meet for social events at least once a term, usually for a meal in a local restaurant, and our committee meetings take place in a local pub to ensure a relaxed atmosphere for our discussions!

Your first term will be subscription free and subs are then £45 per term.

We currently have vacancies in the string (especially 1st and 2nd Violins), brass (horns, trombones/tuba  only) and percussion sections. Please contact our Secretary, Julia Challender, if you would like further information.

For players of all ages from students to senior citizens.
